CSI staff perform a postmortem brain extraction on a male True's Beaked Whale calf head. This animal stranded (specimen data) along the coast of Long Island, NY in January 2014. The mother of this male calf stranded (specimen data) the previous day. Visible in this photograph are the exposed meninges and cerebral hemispheres after removal of the skull, occipital condyles, and foramen magnum.
