3D reconstruction from CT scans (see also 2D images) of a Dwarf Sperm Whale (Kogia simus) ear (related publication) shown in both horizontal and vertical planes demonstrating the position of the inner and middle ear components relative to the surrounding tympanic and periotic bones . Key structures visible in this series are the, tympanic bulla, periotic bone, ossicles (malleus, incus, stapes), semi-circular canals, cochlea and acousto-vestibular nerve canal.
