Brain Coral 3D Slice (D. labyrinthiformes)

3D rotation constructed from CT scans of a section of brain coral shown in both horizontal and vertical planes. Banding patterns (similar to growth rings in trees) in the calcium carbonate skeleton of this "brain like" structure are studied to assess the ecological health and stability of corals reefs.
